Technology Co., Ltd (Timonic) is a global manufacturer of technologies for producing copper sheets.

Copper foil is an anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIB). It serves as a path for electrical current and is the source for emitting the heat generated by a battery. Copper foil production requires advanced technology to produce thinner and wider copper foil mother rolls.

Timonic is a subsidiary company of China Special Metal Group Limited (CSM).

CSM and Timonic have chosen LATAM as their commercial representative to promote their technologies in Chile and the region, signing exclusive collaboration agreements to promote the development of copper sheet production plants in the Chilean mining industry.

Since 2021, electromobility has grown at year-on-year rates of 37%, causing global concern about the shortage of components and minerals for the manufacture of lithium batteries, generating a rearrangement in the geopolitical priorities of world powers, this technological war has promoted changes in US industrial policy, which have opened up never before seen opportunities for the copper industry in Chile.

Copper has a relevant role in the energy transition, but not only as a commodity, and its transformation into copper foil is the next step.

Without knowledge of the downstream industry, the entry barrier is very high, so LATAM has created a new association for this task.

LATAM has brought together a select group of companies to lead the value creation of its technologies, forming the business and new projects subsidiary Downstream29, which is today responsible for integrating all the matters that involve a development like this, contributing to its projects the knowledge of the downstream market, the relationship with international Off takers and the execution of EPC and operation of their technologies.
